In their latest announcement, Polish developer CD Projekt Red have officially confirmed that they have reached an agreement which solidifies and reinforces their relationship with The Witcher saga author Andrzej Sapkowski.
CD Projekt Red and the author of The Witcher novels Mr Andrzej Sapkowski have reached an agreement that reinforces their relationship after a not so friendly dispute earlier this year. Polish developer announced the agreement on their official website . Here is it in full:
"In relation to information previously disclosed in Current Report 15/2018 of 1 October 2018, the Management Board of CD PROJEKT S.A. with a registered office in Warsaw, Jagiellońska 74 (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) hereby announces that on 20 December 2019 it entered into an agreement which solidifies and reinforces the Company’s relationship with Mr. Andrzej Sapkowski – author of The Witcher saga.
Given the contractual non-disclosure provisions applicable to both parties as well as the Company’s legitimate interest in protecting its trade secrets, details of the agreement will not be disclosed. Nevertheless, the agreement satisfies and fully clarifies the requirements and expectations of both parties in light of previously concluded agreements, and establishes a framework for future cooperation between the parties.
The agreement confers new rights upon the Company and reaffirms its existing title to “The Witcher” intellectual property in developing video games, graphic novels, board games and merchandise."
As you can see, CD Projekt Red and Mr Sapkowski will continue to work together as new rights have been secured for new games, merchandise and other material. This is certainly great news for the fans of The Witcher series, who can look forward to new games from the saga, but don't expect to see Geralt as the main protagonist in the new games as CD Projekt Red already confirmed several times that his story has come to an end.
It's safe to say that 20 December 2020 is a great day for the fans of the White Wolf's adventures. Earlier today, the first season of the long-awaited Witcher TV series officially premiered on Netflix with eight episodes and the latest announcement from CD Projekt Red will certainly come as the cherry on the cake for many Witcher fans.
