Seattle-based studio Camouflaj are working on Marvel's Iron Man VR for PlayStation VR. The new Iron Man game was revealed on Sony's State of Play live stream in a teaser trailer that revealed some gameplay and the use of Iron Man's powers.
Sony's live stream presentation named the State of Play premiered this week with some fresh announcements, gameplay trailers and overall new details about upcoming titles.
The first episode was mainly focused on PlayStation VR and that's why we got a couple of new VR announcements. One of them is a new superhero game - Marvel's Iron Man VR. Tony Stark's story in virtual reality is being developed by Seattle-based studio Camouflaj, known for a stealth-based adventure Republique.
Marvel's Iron Man VR was revealed in a short trailer, which revealed just a fraction of gameplay. It starts with Tony Stark flying in his luxurious jet before a mysterious enemy blows everything to pieces.
The trailer then switches to actual gameplay where we can see player controlled Iron Man flying through a sea of clouds and shooting projectiles with laser beams. Judging by the trailer, the game will also feature full Iron Man UI for even more immersion.
According to the official description provided along with the trailer, Marvel's Iron Man VR will allow players to upgrade tech in Tony Stark's garage to customise Iron Man's suit and his abilities.
Marvel's Iron Man VR is scheduled to release later in 2019 exclusively on PlayStation VR, and you can check the trailer above for a better look at the game.
Iron Man VR will be the first major Iron Man game in the last nine years. In 2008 and 2010, Sega published Iron Man and Iron Man 2 respectively. Both of these titles were pretty forgettable and poorly received by both critics and players.
Since then, Iron Man got one mobile game and a couple of appearances in Marvel vs Capcom crossover fighting series.
In other State of Play news, Sony and Hello Games announced No Man's Sky VR in a free Beyond update that is coming later this year.
