Not long after we caught a whiff of a new open-world map for Zombies, Call of Duty: Warzone received a teaser that undeniably points to Zombies-related incoming content.
Treyarch and Raven rolled out a playlist update last night, after which players stumbled upon a Cold War Zombies trial machine in the main area of the hospital in Warzone Rumble's Hospital Hills.
For now, it cannot be interacted with, in spite of seemingly giving out an interactable prompt. It says ZAI/ACTIVATE_ZOMBIES, but unfortunately, it does nothing at the moment.
Nevertheless, it confirms what everyone was whispering about. And as we were hearing whispers about an open-world Zombies map, we practically get an in-game shout, although we're yet to see what the devs have in mind exactly.
The earlier rumours pointed to the addition of the long-rumoured Outbreak mode, although we're yet to get any official confirmation on this. However, this mode was said to bring an open-world Zombies map, which is hopefully what the trial machine is pointing at.
As Ghost pointed out earlier , the existence of the map is even supported by the in-game intel. There's talk about fireteams sent to the Ural Mountains to handle the worst outbreaks of zombies imaginable, who were never contained and often strayed from your ordinary zombie strands.
Data miners suggested that the Zombies map will be similar to Destiny 2's free-roam areas, and will include world events and missions, making Zombies a more dynamic affair than usual.
They suggest that The Outbreak will come to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone with a set of challenges that lets each player will unlock one blueprint per completed set.
