Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta is now live, allowing players to dive into the new Call of Duty title. While gameplay changes and newer additions to the game are the main focal points for players, the game has garnered the attention of players for a very trivial issue.
Players have reported that the word "Arc Raiders" is being censored in the in-game chat of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta. In response to the trivial issue from Activision's end, Embark responded with a cheeky post on the official X account. Here's a more thorough look at how the fiasco unfolded.
Embark Claps Back with a Ironic Post in Response to 'Arc Raiders' Censorship in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta
Arc Raiders is slated for a full release on October 30, 2025. The new extraction shooter from Embark Studios, the same studio that brought us The Finals, has garnered widespread appreciation from players during the game's testing sessions.
On the flipside, Activision and Treyarch are gearing up for their new Call of Duty title release with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta. While the game has been in the limelight for its competition with EA's Battlefield 6, it seems like a new controversy has put the game into negative attention.
Many players have reported that "Arc Raiders" is being censored in the game chat. Usually, typing profanity or slurs in the game chat causes the censorship system to take effect. So, it comes as a surprise that Arc Raiders is being censored in the game chat.
The censorship of the title of a game didn't sit well with many players; however, Embark responded with a bold-as-brass yet ironic post capitalising on this mishap. In a recent post on their official account, Embark shared a game poster with the Arc Raiders censored with asterisks, symbolising the censorship of the word in the game chat.
After the situation unfolded, Insider Gaming reached out to Activision to get their statement on the situation. Activision stated that, "Our text-based moderation system has ‘Arc’ set as an alt of an inappropriate word. Paired with Raiders, the system flagged the phrase. Those filters have been adjusted."
This is not the first case of the game's title being censored in a game, as a few months ago, players reported that EA is also censoring Arc Raiders in their chat system in their app. However, EA was quick enough to patch out the mishap too.
