Some Iranian players over at Reddit claim that they have been blocked from using Call of Duty: Modern Warfare servers and have not been offered a refund for the blocked services.
Politics are once again interfering with games and this time it is Iranian players that are reporting all sorts of problems with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in their country. By the looks of it, Activision decided to block the game in Iran, following the recent tension escalations between the US and Iran.
Keep in mind that Activision are yet to comment on the matter but Iranian players on Reddit started to report that from yesterday, 06 January 2020, they are not able to play the game anymore. In a Reddit post, a player who goes by the name of hamoun76 shared his troubles with the community by saying that he tried to access the online servers of the game but he found that he had been blocked.
He blames the publisher Activision for the offence and as he says it, other Iranian players are also experiencing these issues. On top of this, hamoun76 claims that Activision did not offer him a refund for the blocked services.
It's possible, however, that this could be an issue with the player's internet service provider (ISP) and that the whole situation is a total misunderstanding. One player reported the same issue with Destiny 2 but it quickly turned out that it was an issue on the player's end, not Bungie's.
As we already mentioned, Activision are yet to comment on the matter but it would be really weird if the company would simply start blocking servers to players who spent their hard-earned money on the game. Hopefully, it's all just a misunderstanding and hamoun76 and other Iranian players solve this problem as soon as possible.
