Recent leaks reveal that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022) could have a total of four DMZ maps on launch, which would significantly differ in design.
This year's Call of Duty is yet to be officially revealed but thanks to reliable insiders, we know the game is developed by Infinity Ward and will be a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2019. The game is set to introduce a brand new mode named "DMZ".
The mode is apparently similar to Escape From Tarkov and Battlefield's Hazard Zone, where players have to obtain certain items scattered around the map and extract to the safe zone to complete the match.
According to reliable Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope , DMZ mode currently has a minimum of four maps in development. Whether or not all of these end up being in the final game, it remains to be seen, but Infinity Ward are developing these at the moment according to the leaker.
Each map will have its own unique design as the goal is to have maps that differ considerably in design. Some maps are catered for open-world while others are more concentrated and dense for close-quarters combat.
The leaker also adds that the Call of Duty Warzone 2 map is entirely separate and not connected to DMZ in any way. He adds that Call of Duty Warzone 2 won't launch alongside Modern Warfare 2 and is currently scheduled for March 2023.
As always with leaks and rumours, take these with a grain of salt, since nothing is officially confirmed by Activision just yet. The new Call of Duty game should be revealed in the coming months and hopefully, then we'll hear more details about DMZ mode as well as Warzone 2.
