Back in February, Bloodborne Producer Masaaki Yamagiwa announced that he will be leaving Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio. Yamagiwa did not reveal what will be his next step in the gaming industry but today, we found out that he will be joining Nioh and Ninja Gaiden studio Team Ninja.
The confirmation comes from Sony's Head of Indies, Shuhei Yoshida, who shared a photo with Team Ninja’s Yasuda and Yamagiwa. "A fun evening with Team Ninja’s Yasuda-san and [Masaaki Yamagiwa], who joined Team Ninja," Yoshida wrote in the caption. Check out his tweet below:
Now, we still don't know what Yamagiwa will be working on at Team Ninja. Of course, the logical answer would be the Nioh franchise but it's also possible that Team Ninja have something new in the works. Ninja Gaiden series also comes to mind.
There are certainly several possibilities and hopefully, we'll hear more about Yamagiwa involvement and Team Ninja's upcoming games.
Masaaki Yamagiwa's notable work includes Deracine and Bloodborne as well as the 2012 title Tokyo Jungle.
As you may know, Sony shut down Japan Studio earlier this year. A number of high-profile developers left the company including Yamagiwa and other Bloodborne developers like video manager Ryo Sogabe and executive producer Masami Yamamoto.
