It seems that Blizzard decided to double down when it comes to mobile Diablo because their attempt at addressing the massive backlash over the aforementioned announcement is that they've got mobile titles for every IP in the stable.
As you're probably well aware by now, Blizzard faced a storm of criticism over their unveiling of Diablo Immortal and their response hasn't exactly been . Fans of the franchise, many of them core PC gamers, felt hard done by, arguably rightfully so.
It's not just the masses either - Mark Kern took to Twitter to voice his concerns, claiming that it's not a matter of what Blizzard did - it's how they went about it. He also says that in his time in charge, he'd have had a line of devs in front of his door harassing him for such a decision, since they were all passionate gamers.
Executive producer Allen Adham now reiterated Blizzard's dedication to mobile and even suggested the company's deeper involvement with the sector. Speaking in a BlizzCon conference above, at around the 2:08 mark, Adham said that many in Blizzard "have shifted from playing primarily desktop to playing many hours on mobile".
As a result, Adham says that Blizzard have "many of [their] best developers now working on new mobile titles across all of [their] IPs". He went on saying that some of them are with external partners, such as NetEase, with whom they're developing Diablo Immortal, while others are developed internally.
Adham said they'll have more information to share at a later date and that the future is bright, even though numbers don't seem to agree. Namely, Blizzard stock but the company obviously isn't worried.
Blizzard apparently have more products in development than ever before in the company's history, although that's of little worth to the fans at the moment. Many of them are adamant that Diablo Immortal is a blatant reskin of NetEase's Crusaders of Light, with equally as blatantly reused assets, which Adham says is not the case.
