Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox may have confirmed yesterday that Xbox Series X will not have any exclusives in the first couple of years since most games will also be available on Xbox One and PC. However, this does not mean that Xbox Games Studios are not working on some great, AAA games, that are yet to be announced.
By the looks of it, Xbox are also securing some major titles from independent studios. According to the Linkedin profile, found by Twitter user blueisviolet, a new game development studio named Qlymax are currently working on an Xbox Series X exclusive, which has an expected release date of Holiday 2022.
Qlymax is apparently formed by industry veterans who have worked on over twenty AAA games in their careers. Interestingly if you search for Qlymax game studio on Google, the results are non-existent, which suggests that this indeed is a newly formed developer.
The LinkedIn profile is of Kenneth Jackson who is a Senior Software Dev, Writer/Story Dev and AI Dev. Jackson also claims that he worked on Assassin's Creed and Far Cry games at Ubisoft Montreal but we could not find any info supporting this claim.
The description on the profile states that Qlymax have a brand new engine for this Xbox Series X exclusive. Here's the interesting part about this brand new tech:
"Q-Max was written from the ground up to fully leverage the power of the next-generation video game consoles. The Q-Max engine is an all in one game development engine, which includes full graphics,, audio (Dolby Atmos included), per-pixel hit detection, an immersive and ultra-realistic hydro and thermodynamics engine, full AI and So Much More."
Jackson also offers a couple of information about the game. He claims that their debut title will be an IP that has never been seen in the Video Game format. Apparently, it is a franchise that the devs know and love and the game will be released only when it is fully realised and finished.
"Our budget for this game is one of the largest in Video Game history," Jackson concluded.
As always with unconfirmed info, we suggest you take this with a grain of salt, especially since there isn't a Kenneth Jackson credited in any Ubisoft games. It is possible that the profile is completely fake.
Thanks, Reddit.
