Battlerite Royale, the battle royale edition of Stunlock Studios' MOBA Battlerite, launches on Steam Early Access soon, on 26 September 2018, and the developer launched the final trailer that does well to show what to expect from the game.

Being a hybrid of MOBA and battle royale, Battlerite Royale puts you in charge of a champion, with whom you'll be looting and hopefully surviving to be the last one standing. Unless of course you're going co-op, in which case it's two men standing. Each match features 20 players duking it out across the in-game maps.

Other than the battle royale component however, we're looking at the standard MOBA mechanic that Battlerite fans will be pretty familiar with. The champions each come with unique abilities which lend themselves to different play-styles, leaving it up to players to make them work in various situations.

Stunlock Studios will be hoping that Battlerite Royale will make a splash, since the original game, Battlerite, isn't really in a great place. At the time of writing, it has 1,566 average players on Steam, with a peak of 3,649 in the last 30 days.

Initial reactions seem to vary wildly, although most players opposing the game seem to be Battlerite fans who aren't enthusiastic over what can easily be described as a mod, for which Stunlock charges $20. Seeing the sort of numbers that the original game sports, it's not hard to see where these frustrations are coming from.

On the other hand, another faction of also faithful fans who've had a proper taste of Battlerite Royale during the beta and Steam's Early Access seem to be positively surprised. Many of them initially belonged to the first camp too, although Stunlock seem to have found a really fun formula to shake up the existing MOBA one.

Battlerite Royale launches on Steam's Early Access on 26 September 2018 and Stunlock are already enticing seasoned players with offers of Early Access-exclusive offer of "all current and future Royale Champions that might come with a price tag on launch."
