Larian's Studios' highly anticipated on D&D Baldur's Gate series has finally received a release date of sorts. It might arrive as soon as within 48 days but there are no concrete promises.
Swen Vincke, the head of Larian Studios provided an update on the release date for Baldur's Gate III during the Guerrilla Collective presentation on June 13, 2020.
In his own words, fans could get their hands on a playable version of the game as soon as August 2020. This will not be the official launch date though but rather early access for two of the planned platforms. As you may have expected, Steam is one of them, which is no surprise due to Valve's ties to the whole early access concept.
The other platform where players might get to try Baldur's Gate III in August is actually Google Stadia. We bet you didn't see that one coming. Anyway, even though this is a release window for early access, it is still not a sure thing.
As Vincke pointed out, the main factor that might cause a delay in early access launch is the Covid-19 pandemic that is hampering the development of games throughout the entire industry but the team is hopeful they will make it in time.
There is still no official release date for the full game but with early access on the horizon so soon, it may not be that far away anyway. Larian will probably dodge the autumn 2020 release date as it would both be rushed after the early access period and would collide with Cyberpunk 2077 release. No one in their right mind would want that.
In the meantime, there will be another gameplay live stream on June 18, 2020, as mentioned in the video above.
