In Hasbro's latest investor call, it has been revealed that Larian Studios' upcoming RPG Baldur's Gate 3 is scheduled for early access launch, sometime in 2020.
Hasbro, who via their subsidiary Wizards of the Coast own Dungeons and Dragons, held an investor call at New York Toy Fair yesterday. During the call, they also shared some gaming news when discussing their digital strategy.
The interesting part concerns the release of Baldur's Gate 3, the sequel to the iconic RPG. It was revealed that Baldur's Gate 3 is currently scheduled to launch in early access later this year but as expected, the specific release window has not been mentioned.
Larian Games, who are developing Baldur's Gate 3 never mentioned that the game will launch in early access and this will certainly come as a surprise to many fans who are excited about the sequel. That being said, Larian launched both of their Divinity games in early access so it makes perfect sense that they are continuing with the same tradition.
They stated multiple times that early access launch helped the studio to gather a lot of precious feedback, which ultimately, led to delivering a much better and more balanced experience at launch.
Hopefully, the same will follow with Baldur's Gate 3, which is one of the most anticipated RPGs of the year. The game will soon get world gameplay reveal at PAX East on Thursday, 27 February 2020. You will be able to watch it on live stream aswell.
Baldur's Gate 3 is in development for PC and Google Stadia.
