Ubisoft just revealed the Attack on Titan collaboration, starting from 25 November through 22 December. As part of the crossover, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a new themed questline, locations, characters, and plot points familiar to fans of the anime series.
In addition to the event, players will also gain access to a new free story drop. The crossover follows a strange request sent by a woman named Ada that drives Naoe and Yasuke to the Crystal Cave, an Attack on Titan location inspired by the series’ Underground Chapel.
The event also includes a new story-driven quest that unfolds a story around forbidden experiments, cultists, and a transformation all related to the crossover. Players who have unlocked Yasuke can start the quest in northeast Yamashiro.
Attack on Titan Crossover Quest
Players will see an in-game mission that will take place in a level with a mixture of Shadows’ stealth-action aesthetic and Attack on Titan's giant mecha battles.
The trailer teases the Crystal Cave setting, reminiscent of the secret room where the Reiss family used to inherit the Founding Titan's power. The video ends with the prisoner transforming into a Titan, towering over Naoe and Yasuke.
Rewards for Completing the Quest
Here's what players who finish the crossover storyline can expect:
- An exclusive katana
- Multiple themed objects hidden in chests throughout the area
- Access to new Attack on Titan cosmetic packs via the in-game store
The paid cosmetic bundles include:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa-style outfit for Naoe
- Themed weapons
- A Survey Corps mount
Free Story Drop: A Puzzlement
The new patch also introduces A Puzzlement, the game’s third free story drop. The short story takes a lighter tone with Naoe and Yasuke working together. They each pick up some of the other’s signature moves to mix up the flow of combat.
Naoe gets a theatrical version of Yasuke’s war kick, while Yasuke unlocks non-lethal stealth takedowns for some new tactical approaches. The inversion of each character’s identity even sets up some comedy as well.
The episode lives up to its name with a brand new environmental puzzle. Ubisoft says it’s a “chunk of content that shines a light on some of the questions about the story that have lingered in Shadows’ overarching narrative”.
