In anticipation of the upcoming release of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth for the PlayStation 5 next month, a special event is set to take place in Apex Legends, bringing together two gaming giants. Starting on January 9, players can dive into a new Limited Time Mode Takeover featuring the iconic Buster Sword R2R5 and Materia hop-ups in Apex Legends. The event also introduces a range of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth-inspired cosmetic items, including legendary and epic skins, stickers, emotes, and more.
For three exciting weeks, the Final Fantasy VII Takeover will replace the unranked battle royale mode in Apex Legends. In this special mode, players can wield the powerful Buster Sword R2R5, enabling them to dash, block bullets, unleash a formidable Limit Break, and more. Materia Hop-Ups add new effects to the game, offering benefits like area-of-effect lightning and HP absorption. Additionally, players will have a soldier named Nessie as their companion in the fight.
The event not only brings gameplay inspired by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth but also allows players to look at the part with new Outlands skins. These include a moogle-inspired skin for Wattson and iconic skins for Wraith, Crypto, and more. These limited-time skins, part of 36 Final Fantasy VII Rebirth-themed cosmetics, can be obtained by purchasing event packs. Players can collect items from the knockout pool, including the first Mythic cosmetic that can be equipped by any Legend—the Mythic Buster Sword R5.
The Apex Legends and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Event creates a unique crossover between two gaming icons, offering players a glimpse of these worlds colliding for a limited time. Don't miss the chance to experience this special event that blends the excitement of Apex Legends with the iconic universe of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth is the second game in the trilogy that features a standalone story. The game is expected to be released worldwide on February 29, 2024, for the PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive.
