Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, you get the hint!

Epic Games Store continues its stream of freebies with two great games, Frictional Games' survival horror Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs and the revisiting of Kingdom: New Lands.

Now, Frictional Games are almost synonymous with the horror genre, and we're not talking about jump-scare horror stuff. We're talking about the suspense-building, atmospheric, emotional rollercoasters that tend to leave you thinking for days after you finish them. In short, the "horror" moniker really doesn't do it justice.

Interestingly enough, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs was developed by The Chinese Room, who created it as a mod for Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Thankfully, Frictional recognised the quality of the then-experimental mod and expanded it to be an entire game.

And what a game it is, although you'd do well to consider that Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs launched in 2013 and adjust your expectations accordingly. Once you do, we guarantee you'll have a great time and probably keep thinking about it for a while after you finish, which we've come to expect from Frictional. Plus it's free, so just go download it.

The second freebie is Kingdom: New Lands, and if you missed it the first time Epic Games gave it away, do yourself a favour and download it right away. Its pixelated style is drop-dead gorgeous, but don't let it fool you - Kingdom: New Lands is an easy-to-pick-up-hard-to-master strategy game that you have to play to believe.

Coming up next week are again two games, the first one coming from Bloober Team and Aspyr and called Layers of Fear 2, the sequel to their game from 2016. The second freebie is Costume Quest 2, a delightful action RPG by Double Fine Productions.

You can download this week's freebies on the Epic Games Store .
