Deep Silver and 4A Games have basically confirmed that their upcoming post-apocalyptic shooter Metro Exodus will be using Denuvo anti-tamper technology when it launches, although the game's Steam page doesn't say which version exactly.
The companies didn't really ring the bells or anything as the news came from Metro Exodus' Steam page. It reads, "Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-Tamper", although no version was named as of yet.
Metro Exodus is slated for launch on 15 February 2019, so we'll find out soon enough but keeping the exact version under wraps until then is probably a smart decision for 4A and Deep Silver. After all, we're talking about a highly anticipated game that's surely a target for cracking groups, so announcing the version is practically an invitation.
Denuvo's 5.2 version launched in November 2018 as the latest and greatest in anti-tamper technology but it ultimately lasted less than a week. Football Manager 2019 and The Quiet Man hopped aboard but a cracking group , not to be confused with CDPR's identically named , were adamant to make Denuvo's life difficult.
The company quickly followed up with the 5.3 version but FCKDRM were even quicker in their response, as they managed to crack Hitman 2 , a day less than it took them to crack Football Manager 2018. Ironically enough, the group said that they skipped The Quiet Man as there were barely any requests for the game.
Metro Exodus, on the other hand, is almost certain to become a target for FCKDRM, whose obvious disdain for all things DRM practically locked them into a battle against Denuvo. Unfortunately for the latter, FCKDRM seem to be winning for the most part.
Initially slated for launch in fall of 2018, 4A and Deep Silver ultimately decided to delay Metro Exodus to , which was probably a wise move considering the caliber of the competition.
After all, competing with the likes of may be sub-optimal, but considering that their earlier schedule pitted them against Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the delay was probably a wise move.
