Genshin Impact update 1.4 update will bring two banner characters - Venti and Childe. For all of you who have a hard time choosing between the two, we've prepared a quick guide on which character you should pull for.
With the recent announcement of the upcoming 1.4 update, miHoYo revealed the two banners that will be released during this event. Both the rate-up characters were already obtainable during their character banner event a couple of months ago.
For those who weren't able to get either Childe or Venti, this is great news as they are considered to be some of the strongest characters in the game. But since it's quite expensive to roll for both of the characters, especially if you're "free-to-play", many players will have to make the decision to pull for just one character. If you're having trouble choosing between Childe or Venti, you've come to the right place.
First of all, let's make clear that Genshin Impact is a relatively balanced game and even the strongest healers can fill the role of main DPS. This means that you should always roll for a character that you have an attachment to, whether it is design, story or something else.
Venti is arriving first, so let's start with him. If you're looking for a strong support character for your team composition, look no further, Venti is by far the strongest support in the game right now who makes your life easier when it comes to clearing up domains with larger groups of mobs thanks to his Elemental Burst. There is something special about landing your Burst with Diluc or Zhongli on a grouped-up mob crowd and Venti allows you do that almost all the time. However, he's not as useful when fighting against larger monsters and bosses.
Even though he's a five-star character, Venti is very free-to-play friendly if we talk about his build. When it comes to the artifacts, you can just simply run a four-piece Viridescent Venerer set which bonus increases Swirl damage by 60 per cent and decreases the opponent's Elemental Resistance to the element infused in the Swirl by 40 per cent for 10 seconds.
It should also be noted that the artifacts don't even have to be leveled up for the four-piece bonus to work properly. He also has the upper edge over Childe when it comes to exploring the world of Teyvat thanks to his Elemental Skill which allows him to create wind currents and reach tricky places.
Tartaglia, better known as Childe, is one of the strongest DPS characters in the game right now and he can also be used as a sub-DPS. He's a very cool and diverse character thanks to his ability to constantly switch between melee and ranged attacks. Unlike Venti who's playstyle revolves around using his Burst and letting the DPS characters do the hard work, Childe has a much bigger learning curve.
It's safe to say that he's probably one of the hardest characters in the game right now thanks to his diverse playstyle and cooldown management. This can actually be a good thing since, let's face it, it's not uncommon for most DPS characters to become a bit monotonous. If we exclude all the elemental reaction combos made by all of your party members, the fighting mechanics of one character are very simple. This gives him the upper edge over Venti since he will more likely stay longer on your screen than the playful bard.
However, like all of the game's DPS characters, Childe is very dependent on his build. His artifacts need to have the right main and sub-stats in order for him to reach his full potential. Childe is very strong at zero constellations, but he becomes an absolute beast at C6 but you could be spending well over a thousand wishes in order to get there. A big thing that goes in the favor of Childe's banner is the fact that the new four-star character, Rosaria, is confirmed to be on his banner.
As mentioned before, you should always roll for the characters you like because you're going to be "stuck" with them for a brief amount of time. If you're looking for a support who can help you clear out domains faster than any other character, roll for Venti. But, if you look for one of the strongest DPS characters with a diverse and joyful playstyle, Childe is the right choice.
