In Hogwarts Legacy, treasure vaults are small caves scattered across the world that contain one item of gear and a few galleons. You'll have to solve puzzles to get the loot from some of them. The one involving the chest is the most challenging.

Sometimes the puzzles will be outside the vault, and other times they will be inside. The chess puzzle is one of the most difficult puzzles to complete in these vaults.
How do you solve the chess puzzle inside some treasure vaults?
To begin, you must be familiar with the basic roles of the chess game in order to complete this puzzle. When you enter the vault and see the chessboard in front of you, the first thing you should do is use Revelio to locate the missing chess piece. The bad news is that you won't be able to discover it; instead, you'll find a piece of pottery beside the chess table. When you find the pottery, cast the Transformation spell to transform it into a chess piece.

The missing chess piece is usually a bishop, however, in certain circumstances, other pieces might be found instead. Keep in mind that Transformation does not last long, and the chess piece will eventually transform back, so hurry up.
Now, use Wingadium Leviosa to pick up the chess piece and put it in the place where you can execute the checkmate. For example, if the missing chess piece is a bishop, you must put it diagonally to attack the king. If you did everything correctly, the king will be destroyed and the loot chest will appear.
