Helldivers 2 is a survival shooter by Sony Entertainment, created by Arrowhead Game Studios. The game is a follow-up to 2015's popular top-down shooter Helldivers.
In Helldivers 2, players must stop contesting Alien forces - Terminids and Automatons - from taking over Super Earth. Players encounter larger Automaton Reinforcements, such as the Hulk and Tanks, as the difficulty level increases.
The Tank is the most challenging advanced Automaton type to defeat without good preparation or strategem usage. If you're planning to defeat Automaton Tanks in Helldivers 2, here are a few valuable methods to consider.
How to Defeat Automaton Tanks Easily
Automaton Tanks usually appear on high-level planets. They are typically found near Automaton outposts and settlements. Most Automatons generally die after getting shot a few times. However, thanks to their hardcore armor plating, the Tanks will tank 90% of your shots from standard weapons.
If you face an Automaton Tank out in the open, here are the strategies you should consider using to take it down -
- Always take cover. The Tanks fire in random directions and will catch you off-guard if you are not in cover. Utilize cover to get close to the tanks and then deal damage to them.
- Divide and conquer. Split your team into two parts: one party baits the Tank, and the other starts damaging the Tank.
- Sony
Tanks are the hardest Automaton class to defeat in Helldivers 2. - Try using the Railcannon Strike stratagem. A single Railcannon Strike to a Tank instantly lowers its health. As for accurate strikes, you'll need two Railcannon Strikes to take out a Tank immediately.
- Use the RS-422 Rail Gun in Unsafe Mode, and take down a Tank in 5-6 shots. Aside from that, you can also use the Spear special weapon to lock on the tank from a distance and deal AOE damage.
- Use your Eagle stratagems. Placing an Eagle stratagem in the correct position will help you weaken a Tank quickly. If you get lucky, the Eagle stratagem might end up one-shotting the Tank.
- A little reminder for all Helldivers - Do not shoot the armored parts of the Tank; you'll only lower your precious magazine count. Deal damage to it using AOE Explosives and Special Weapons combined with stratagems.
While engaging an Automaton Tank, try not to get too close, as one sudden movement instantly kills you. Another friendly reminder for all Helldivers - Try to communicate with your fellow Helldivers before using your Stratagems; if your teammates keep getting caught in the crossfire, you'll run out of Reinforce stratagems before extraction.
