The release date of GTA V for the next generation of consoles is approaching, so if you have already pre-order the game, you can already start preparing.
PS4 and Xbox One players will be able to transfer both their GTAV Story Mode progress and their current GTA Online characters and progression to their respective newer platforms, or even across platforms, with a one-time migration for each.
The process of transferring is available as of yesterday and here is how to do it:
- Enter the game on your current console
- Pause the game and navigate to the game tab
- Select the Upload Save Game option
- Log in your Rockstar Social Account on your newer console
- If your Social account is connected, the save from the cloud will be downloaded and applied
Note that you can only store one game save per platform at a time and saves will be available to download for 3 months.
The migration will include:
- In-game money
- Progression
- Stats
- Vehicles
- Properties
- Weapons
- Clothing
- Created Jobs
However, purchased in-game money (via shark cards) will only be transferable between platforms of the same family.(PS4 -> PS5, Xbox One -> Xbox Series). All earned GTA money will transfer regardless of platform.
Players who want to start with a new character can seize the new player bonus, which will be available for all new players, and those players who want to reset their character and start from scratch. The starting package includes 4 million in-game dollars, and a selection of essentials including Business Properties, Vehicles, and Weapons.
The next-gen version of GTAV and GTA Online will bring high-end PC visuals to the console players with graphics modes, 4K resolution, 60 fps, better texture quality, HDR, immersive 3D audio, ray tracing, and more.
