The chemical cabinet code is hiding in plain sight, written across the walls of the very room you're standing in. The trick is knowing what you're actually looking at.

Directive 8020, the latest story-driven horror adventure from Supermassive Games, is a game where the majority of the gameplay is done through the decision-making process, which can steer the story in many different directions. However, some segments will test your puzzle-solving skills as well, and one such segment will happen during the game's fifth episode.

During Episode 5, Mr. Williams, Anders needs specific chemical ingredients to mix a tranquilliser. To get them, you'll need to crack the three-digit code on a locked chemical cabinet. The code isn't arbitrary — it's worked out by reading the formulae displayed around the room itself.

Examine the panel to the left of the cabinet

Before touching anything, look at the panel on the left side of the chemical cabinet. It displays three chemical formulae, and these are the ones you need to identify. Each formula corresponds to a number, and together they form the code.

The synthesis terminal lays out the required formulae. Match these against the posters in the room to identify the corresponding numbers.

Match the formulae to their numbers using the room's posters

Three posters are displayed around the room, each naming one of the formulae shown on the panel. Cross-reference them to get your three digits:

  • Chloroacetyl Chloride corresponds to 1
  • Ammonia corresponds to 6
  • Dimethyl Sulphate corresponds to 8

The synthesis screen on the terminal in the room reinforces what you're looking for if you need a visual reference for the formulae.

Enter the code

Approach the cabinet keypad and enter 168. The cabinet will unlock, giving you the ingredients Anders needs to continue the story.

Quick tip: Take a moment to read all three posters before touching the keypad. The room gives you everything you need, and going in blind will just mean backing out to look again.
