The "Collective Madness" trophy in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is tied to Kenway's Fleet, a system that unlocks after you take control of Great Inagua by defeating the first Templar target, Julien du Casse. Once that's done, you'll gain access to Kenway's Fleet either from the cabinet inside the Jackdaw or from the manor on Great Inagua itself.
From this point on, any enemy ship you defeat and board can be sent to the fleet rather than simply sunk, and that's the mechanic this trophy is built around. To unlock it, you need to send at least one ship of four specific classes: Schooner, Brig, Frigate, and Man o' War.
How to send ships to Kenway's Fleet
Whenever you engage an enemy vessel at sea, the goal isn't to destroy it but to board it. Whittle down the ship's hull with cannon fire until you can initiate a boarding action, then fight the enemy crew on deck and reduce their morale to zero. Once the boarding is complete and the prompt appears, select the "Send to Kenway's Fleet" option rather than any other. Do this once for each of the four required ship classes, and the trophy will unlock.
Where to find each ship class
The four ship types don't all spawn in the same region, so you'll need to cover different parts of the map to find them all.
Schooners and brigs are the most common ships in the game and are found throughout the Caribbean, but they appear most frequently in the northern areas of the map. If you're sailing around Nassau or the surrounding islands early in the game, you'll encounter both regularly without having to look hard. Board and send one of each as soon as the Kenway's Fleet option is available.
Frigates and Man o' War ships are heavier and more dangerous, and they tend to appear more often in the southern regions of the map. These are significantly tougher fights than schooners or brigs, particularly the Man o' War, which has considerably more hull strength and firepower. Make sure the Jackdaw is reasonably well upgraded before you go hunting for these in the south, or you'll find yourself on the back foot quickly. The Fleet management screen shows you all the ships currently in your possession, their class, HP, and where they were captured, so you can easily track which types you've already secured.
Quick tip: Don't bother trying to chase Man o' War ships early in the game. Wait until you've upgraded the Jackdaw's cannons and hull reinforcement before engaging one, or the fight will be far harder than it needs to be.
