Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft, launching on 9 July 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. A full remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (2013) built from the ground up on the latest version of Ubisoft's proprietary Anvil engine, it shares no code with the original and incorporates technology developed for Assassin's Creed Shadows (2025), including physically based rendering, ray-traced global illumination, micropolygon rendering, and a new dynamic weather system.
The project was an open secret in the industry for years before Ubisoft officially confirmed it in March 2026, with a worldwide reveal showcase following on 23 April 2026. Edward Kenway's original voice actor, Matt Ryan, has returned to record new lines for the remake.
The game follows Welsh privateer-turned-pirate Edward Kenway across the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy from 1715 to 1722, visiting Havana, Kingston, and Nassau while becoming embroiled in the war between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order. Resynced is a focused single-player experience; the original game's multiplayer mode, the Freedom Cry DLC, and the Abstergo Entertainment modern-day sections have all been removed, replaced with new cinematics delving into Edward's internal memories.
New content includes expanded story arcs for Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet, three new Jackdaw officers each with unique origin missions, additional sea shanties composed by French musician Woodkid, and the option to keep a pet cat or monkey aboard the ship. Combat has been reworked into a faster, more action-oriented system drawing from Shadows, parkour has been refined with new moves and smoother recovery animations, and tailing missions are no longer an immediate failure if the player is spotted.
