Respawn Entertainment and EA have apparently been working secretly on a new battle royale title named Apex Legends, which will feature the breakneck action from Titanfall series. The game will reportedly be announced on 04 February 2019.

Apex Legends will reportedly be a free to play battle royale, as it appears that EA finally figured out how to compete in the genre and greenlit Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall-like project. It seems Respawn have been picking up on what made some battle royale titles great at certain aspects and decided to incorporate many of them.

For example, Apex Legends will feature different classes that have unique abilities, much like Realm Royale did until Hi-Rez completely botched it. Microtransactions for cosmetic items will be present, but it seems like EA are not ready to give up on loot boxes just yet, as Apex Legends will have them implemented in a manner apparently similar to that of Overwatch. In other words, players should be able to earn them whenever they level up.

As for the battle royale itself, it will not be a 100 player fiesta, but a rather smaller one with up to 60 players in a match. To accomodate the smaller player count, squads will be limited to up to three people. Gameplay will be done through the pilots only, as Apex Legends will have no Titans in it. All of this information was revealed by Rod Breslau on Twitter.

Nibel, who is known for leaking video game information on Twitter, also posted that Apex Legends name was indeed trademarked and stated it is supposed to be a game that resembles a mix of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode and Rainbow Six Siege.

Kotaku's Jason Schreier confirmed that the leaks are true in a tweet of his own, where he stated that giving influencers a preview of the game before announcing it is a great way to have it leaked. Ben Walke, of EA DICE, responded to this by stating it's not just influencers who leak this information, which is just the cherry on top of the confirmation cake. Pop the corks everyone, we are getting a battle royale inspired by Titanfall on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!
