FIFA 19 reigns supreme in UK chart ahead of RDR2 and CoD

Although sales of boxed copies traditionally take a hit after Black Friday, FIFA 19, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 don't seem to care much as they got to keep their stranglehold on the UK physical sales chart.

There haven't been any new entries in the top 10 and the only notable launch was Darksiders III. Unfortunately, it debuted way out of the top ten, in 32 place. That's one place higher than Hitman 2, who returns to the top 40. And yes, Fortnite: Deep Freeze bundle is still outselling poor Agent 47.

As for the actual top 10 material, FIFA's staying in first place for yet another week, in spite of the 39 per cent dip in sales. Considering that Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Whatever Wednesday sales are behind us, it's actually an impressive result. Do we really need to mention that it launched at the end of September 2018?

The only change in the top three was Red Dead Redemption 2 switching places with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. At this point, it's usually not about who sells more per se but whose on-week sales are slower to drop and RDR2 seems to be winning in this respect with 24 per cent drop in sales compared to CoD's 64 per cent.

Battlefield V is holding strong in fourth place and although its last week sales melted by 48 per cent, it's actually a pretty good result all things considered. As usual, it's nowhere near the level of some of its predecessors but it's difficult to pinpoint whether it is because of the globally dwindling physical sales of video games or its quality. Probably both.

Forza Horizon 4 is having a year to remember and Playground's racing title has kept to the top 10 consistently since it launched in October, welcoming and waving goodbye to quite a few games along the way. Same goes for Spidey as it's apparently the fastest selling PS4 game ever and may even snatch Uncharted 4's title of the best selling PS4 exclusive in this gen.
