Even though we've all heard rumours of Sony's PlayStation 5 cooking behind the scenes, the company will not be entertaining them, seeing as how they announced there will be no new hardware on their E3 booth. There will be four games though.
We honestly can't say which game in the list is more anticipated here. We've got Marvel's and Insomniac Games' Spider-Man, renegade MGS messiah Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, Naughty Dog's The Last Of Us Part II and Sucker Punch's Ghosts of Tsushima.
Sony added that they'll be showcasing games by third-party publishers and indie studios as well, so there won't be a shortage of eye candy on display. Nevertheless, we're fairly confident that the aforementioned list will attract the most attention on the floor.
After all, Spider-Man is almost a guaranteed hit that everyone wants to see more of, while Kojima's followers who haven't strayed off the righteous path and purchased Metal Gear Survive will surely jump on Death Stranding.
The Last Of Us Part II happens to be the sequel to one of PlayStation 3's best games ever while Ghosts of Tsushima, even though it personally takes the cake as far as themes go, is yet to show actual gameplay. Still, its devs are right, who doesn't like the samurai?
Speaking for PlayStation Blogcast, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America Shawn Layden said that the company will be spicing things up for their appearance at this year's E3 conference, claiming they're gunning for a "different angle".
Apparently, Layden thinks Sony have been trying to "refresh, remake and reignite what [they] do at the what used to be called a press conference for E3". Clever wording too, especially considering how E3 conferences sometimes devolve into meaningless madness.
Of course, Sony not revealing anything on E3 doesn't mean PlayStation 5 development hasn't started. In fact we'd be surprised if Sony didn't have at least some pieces of the puzzle down by now. Of course, no need for speculation of this moment because let's take care of some gaming first. Where's my katana?
