Fornite Battle Royale is already growing rapidly, but now it's also looking to reach new heights. Literally. An icon showing a jetpack can be seen in game and people are speculating wildly about its purpose and release date.
A sudden influx of disgruntled PUBG players has benefited Fornite Battle Royale greatly, with the game rising in popularity mostly because Epic Games are a sharp contrast of what PUBG corp are. While hackers are running rampant in PUBG without proper feedback from Bluehole, players are enjoying a relatively hacker-free experience in Fortnite and regular updates from Epic.
Sometimes the updates even come unannounced and such is the curious case of jetpacks in the game. Apparently, it will get added to the game along the way and Epic Games have added an icon in the game that teases the flying contraption.
Fortnite stresses the importance of high ground much more than PUBG and a jetpack was bound to be added sooner or later. Now this will most likely be a very powerful tool in the game and there is a high chance it will be very rare for that reason alone. The gold background also testifies to this speculation, as it usually denotes a legendary item.
Some players are speculating the item will act as a portable jump pad but there is a possibility it will act as a proper flying device. The speculation that is all but out of the window is that it's just a cosmetic item. It is highly unlikely that an opportunity to add more to the rotating gear and weapon balance cycle will be fluffed. On top of that, the screenshot shown above clearly says ''Take the fight to all new heights'' which indicates an actually useful jetpack.
Considering the players now have to build stairs to get the high ground, a jetpack would prove a useful shortcut in such situations. Unlike the stairs however, the jetpack is bound to make noise and give up your position to potential enemies lying in wait.
Whatever it turns out to be, it is good to see new content on regular basis, let's just hope it doesn't prove to be a microtransaction exclusive. Epic Games have dodged malpractices so far, but then again, Bluehole were laying out roadmaps on weekly basis before going big.
