Warhammer 40,000: Daemonhunters is cooking up something special for the fans as the devs worked hard in a really dodgy field in order to bring a Primarch fight to the fans.

Grey Knights and Daemon Primarch Mortarion have a history that is a bit more intimate than one might suspect at a glance. Mortarion killed the previous Supreme Grand Master of the chapter, Geronitan, which they took personally. After getting promoted to the vacant Grand Master spot, Kaldor Draigo swore vengeance on Mortarion and exacted it by beating the Daemon Primarch down and carving Geronitan's name into it.

Naturally, the moth man took this as a personal insult and now that we've come full circle, players of W40K: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters will have to deal with this guy's issues.

Given the immense power Primarchs wield in Warhammer 40,000 universe, one could get skeptical about the possibility of four Grey Knights dealing with such a creature, which is what we had the chance to ask Noah Decter-Jackson about, the head of Complex Games.

On being asked about how we can expect to beat a Primarch without getting obliterated in the process, Decter-Jackson obviously had to carefully choose the words, given the spoiler implications if he revealed too much, but he did say it will come down to much more than just buffing up stats and getting better gear for our Grey Knights since "[Mortarion] is very tough. Very, very tough".

One thing that NDJ brought up, which should set minds at ease, is that Games Workshop wouldn't let Complex Games utilise Mortarion if they didn't like what the devs are doing with the character.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters features epic bosses other than Mortarion

Considering the resources the Grey Knights and the Inquisition have at their disposal, it is safe to assume at this point that we are heading for one epic showdown with the Daemon Primarch. Having played an encounter with a boss whose appearance pales in significance, I have a very good feeling about Complex Games' ability to handle an event of this scale.
