The conclusion of Valorant Champions 2022 was nothing short of spectacular, with the championship final held in Istanbul. LOUD emerged victorious, defeating OpTic and claiming the title of Valorant Champions 2022. The excitement surrounding the event has already ignited anticipation for the upcoming 2023 VCT.
Kicking off the Valorant Champions Tour for 2023 was the highly anticipated LOCK // IN event, which took place in São Paulo, Brazil. Fnatic delivered an impressive performance, triumphing over LOUD on their home turf. However, the battle will continue as teams gear up for the next significant stage of the VCT.
Riot Games recently made an exciting announcement regarding the second international event, VCT Masters, scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan, in June 2023. This LAN event will see the participation of top teams from each international league, all vying for a chance to secure a spot in the coveted 2023 Championship event.
VCT Format
The tournament will commence with the Group stage, consisting of 8 lower-seeded teams. This stage will follow a double elimination GSL format, with two groups (Group A and Group B), each comprising 4 teams. The top 4 teams from both groups will advance to the Playoffs.
Moving on to the Playoffs, a total of 8 teams will compete. This includes the 4 teams that qualified from the group stage and the top-seeded teams. Each match in the Playoffs, except for the Lower Final and Grand Final, will be a Best of 3 (Bo3) format. The Lower Final and Grand Final matches, on the other hand, will be Best of 5 (Bo5), adding an extra layer of excitement to the climax of the event.
