Ubisoft's action-adventure Assassin's Creed Valhalla has emerged as the No.1 physical game of the Christmas period this year. Valhalla beat Cyberpunk 2077 and Call of Duty Black Ops Cold war for the top spot.
The last couple of months of 2020 certainly brought us many blockbusters such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077 and Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War to name a few and of course, it's not surprising that these games are currently the best sellers on the market.
According to GfK Entertainment, in the UK, Ubisoft's Viking-themed action-adventure managed to re-take the top spot from Cyberpunk 2077. For the first time ever, an Assassin's Creed game has claimed the No.1 position for Christmas. This is also the first time for Ubisoft game and only the third time a non-FIFA or Call of Duty game has topped the boxed charts in the last 15 years.
Valhalla's sales shot up 66 per cent due to price discounts ahead of Christmas. Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War follows closely in the second place after selling as many copies this week as it did the week before.
Cyberpunk 2077 sales dropped 80 per cent in sales this week, which means the game is no at No.3. This was somewhat expected after all launch issues and poor technical performance on the last-gen consoles.
That being said, the drop is not that major since other heavy-hitters like The Last of Us Part II and Valhalla also dropped by 80 per cent and 70 per cent respectively in their second week. Here's the full list of best selling games in the UK for the week ending on December 19, 2020:
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Cyberpunk 2077
- FIFA 21
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
