The first roguelite version of Prince of Persia is available to play on Steam today. The Rogue Prince of Persia was launched in early access at a price of 18 euros (15GBP).
After a short delay, Ubisoft's The Rogue Prince of Persia was launched – that 2D title from the creators of Dead Cells that adds a roguelite plot to the Prince of Persia's acrobatics.
As announced, the game is currently only available to PC players, i.e. Steam users. It was launched in the early access phase, and we have learned that until further notice it will be sold at a price of 20 euros (17 GBP), that is, for 18 euros (15 GBP) with a promotional discount that will be valid for the first week.
Currently, the developer's plan is to spend a little more than a year with the game in early access. For now, The Rogue Prince of Persia contains the first act with six levels, two boss opponents and most of the gameplay mechanics. In the future, the game will receive even more of these contents and the conclusion of the story.
The Rogue Prince of Persia is a refreshing change from other games in the genre, when compared. Levels are linear and that adds to the overall gaming experience. The game's visuals seem really stunning. Moreover, The Rogue Prince of Persia offers a fresh take on the roguelike genre with its unique elements, interesting gameplay and great music.
Developers have taken a lot of their inspiration from ancient Persian miniatures and culture. As they said, it's something that shaped a lot of the look of the game. It's an ancient Persian art style that shows a lot of vibrant and unusual colors. Like, you can have a scene of war with a very bright golden sky. Like in the Aqueduct level, the sky is golden and everything is blue - the stone is blue, the water is blue.
They tried to make the color of the game very unique, and when you see a screenshot of the game, they want you to know that the game on the picture is The Rogue Prince of Persia!
