Team SoloMid has acquired the services of Hu "SwordArt" Shuo-Chieh in a multi-year deal, possibly in hopes of getting a fresh star on the marksman position as well.
TSM reportedly paid SwordArt $6 million for a two-year contract, making him the highest-earning player in the LCS. The title briefly belonged to Perkz but the difference seems to be fairly small in the grand scheme of things.
Anyway, this announcement comes less than a day after Doublelift announced he would retire from pro play, leaving the marksman spot open as well. This could work well for TSM if they are looking to build an ambitious team almost from scratch.
Besides Doublelift, their biggest name in history - Bjergsen, also retired recently and fans are speculating the team is looking to hire young talent hungry for titles.
SwordArt appeared to be the perfect fit for a team with four rookies in the past season as Suning ended up being LPL's third seed for World Championship 2020 but eventually outperformed everyone in their region. They knocked out the tournament favourites, Top Esports, in semifinals but were unable to claim the Summoner's Cup since DWG took them down.
PowerOfEvil, one of the best mid laners in LCS recently, filled the spot left open by Bjergsen but TSM still needs to add a top and bot laner.
These are still unknown variables but if a talented young marksman comes along, it could be easy seeing the team go far with the current setup. It remains to be seen how this addition will affect Biofrost, who still has a contract with the team until November 15, 2022.
