Treyarch has finally cracked down on Call of Duty: Warzone 2's VPN abusers. With the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 integration, the new set of RICOCHET rules against VPN users will go live.

One of the most annoying problems in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is the rampant VPN abusers. VPN abusers use different VPN apps to bypass network thresholds for finding easier lobbies, putting SBMM and EOMM to the side.

VPN abusers have made the game unplayable for many new and inexperienced players. The usage of VPN has seriously affected Ranked Play for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone 2 last year.

So, it came as no surprise when Treyarch implemented a new RICOCHET event, which will go against all VPN abusers by putting in limitations for Ranked Play in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

No More VPNs for Easier Lobbies in Call of Duty: Warzone 2

If you've watched many skillful Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players on YouTube and TikTok sharing their unbelievable skills where enemies seem to just watch these players, then you're watching VPN in action.

The most common use of VPN is to find easier lobbies that fall beyond the claws of SBMM and EOMM, which results in getting enemies who never shoot back at you. VPN abusers have become rampant across most game modes, including Ranked Play in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

In a recent RICOCHET update, Treyarch announced that they are introducing a new level threshold for entering Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Black Ops 6's Ranked Play, where players must play a certain amount of matches in the region they connected through the VPN.

So, with the new system in place, if a VPN abuser connects to Argentina, they must first play a certain amount of matches in Argentina before entering Ranked Play. Again, if they connect back to another region, they must again complete a certain amount of matches before entering Ranked Play.

While the new RICOCHET update from Treyarch counters the rampant VPN abuse problem, it fails to address other matchmaking exploits such as "2boxing," where players use two accounts to get easier lobbies. The "2boxing" problem is also rampant in Fortnite; future updates of RICOCHET might end up countering this issue forever.
