Todd Howard says that focusing on fewer platforms will allow Bethesda to make incredible-looking games with the help of Xbox engineers.
Todd Howard was asked about Starfield's exclusivity on Xbox once again and the Bethesda boss had a pretty interesting answer this time around. Howard explained that exclusivity is nothing new for Bethesda since many of their beloved games were exclusive to Xbox consoles, namely Oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim DLC.
Speaking about the benefits of having a game tied to one ecosystem, Todd said that exclusivity allows himself and the team to focus on making incredible-looking games.
"From a development side, I like the ability to focus and have help from them, the top engineers at Xbox, to say we're gonna make this look incredible on the new systems. From my standpoint, that's just awesome" Howard said in an interview with Lex Fridman .
Starfield is at the moment confirmed to be launching on PC and Xbox Series X| S. Given that the console shares a lot of similarities with the PC platform, it's safe to say that Starfield developers will indeed be able to focus more on delivering polished and stunning games.
Starfield is expected to launch sometime in early 2023. Hopefully, we'll get to see more of the game sometime in the next few months.
Bethesda also have another Xbox exclusive incoming in 2023. Arkane's Redfall is expected to be one of the highlights of Xbox next year, along with Forza Motorsport and Starfield.
