Team17 and OverBorder Studio presented more of Thymesia, their upcoming, plague-totting game that now has a release date.

Thymesia will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on August 9, 2022, according to the latest announcement from the devs and publishers. Keep in mind that Coronavirus is still around the world and release dates have been delayed for less. On the other hand, you can already try Thymesia out, courtesy of the free demo that is available on Steam .

For those not familiar with the title, the players take control of Corvus, a mysterious masked protagonist that is trying to make it through the plague-ridden city of Hermes.

He will attempt to uncover the truth behind the plague and save Hermes, all while carrying mysterious weapons that are powered by the disease itself. With that in mind, players will be looking to seize the diseases from the enemies in order to wield them as weapons while also upgrading their movement and arsenal through a progression system.

The game looks a lot like a souls-like, just in case you want a heads up. One of the selling points are the challenging enemies, meaning the difficulty of this title may not be for the faint-hearted.

Despite not getting a release for the last generation of consoles, Thymesia features pretty humble system requirements as even the recommended specs have components that were mid-tier more than half a decade ago.
