Bloober Team have just announced that their upcoming psychological horror game The Medium will be pushed back to January 2021, the reasons for which are Covid-19 and 'other games on the market'.
It doesn't take a psychic medium to know which game the Polish studio is referring to. After all, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most eagerly anticipated games ever, so launching anything short of a space shuttle in the same time frame is a recipe for disaster.
Anyway, instead of the previous December 10 launch date, The Medium will hit the shelves on January 28, 2021.
"It wasn't an easy choice to make, but one made due to the Covid-19 situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market. Bloober Team remains committed to delivering our biggest, most ambitious, fear-inducing experience to date", they wrote.
On the bright side, however, Bloober Team will use the time to add further polish, no pun intended, and ensure that their vision of a game-changing interactive psychological horror comes to fruition.
In addition to tightening the game up, the studio promised more information in the upcoming period, where they'll "unravel a few more layers of The Medium's great mystery".
Bloober Team have apparently been holding off on the development of The Medium until the launch of Microsoft's next-gen console, Xbox Series X, solely on the basis of performance.
Judging by the trailers, The Medium's development team has put the extra horsepower to good use, and it's evident that some of the scenes would be impossible to recreate on the current-gen consoles. Thankfully, we won't have to worry about that when it launches on PC and Xbox Series X/S next year.
