The Division will be available for free this weekend. People who play on their PCs will have a two hour head start roaming the infected streets of New York.
It's happening again. Ubisoft is hosting a free weekend and The Division is on the menu. The trial will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The free weekend for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will start tomorrow, 04 May, at 8am BST. For all of you PC gamers out there, the event starts tomorrow, at 6pm BST. The event ends on Sunday, 07 May, at 8am BST for all platforms.
What will be available for free? All content available in the standard edition will be at your disposal during the free weekend. Also, the standard "if you like the game you can purchase it and keep your progress" deal is in effect.
Ubisoft recently laid out their plans for the year two of The Division and they plan to let you have all of the content for free during this second year. No season pass will be available either. That content will not be a laughing matter, as they plan on releasing two "major" expansions. In addition, all content released during the second year will be available for all platforms at the same time.
The first expansion is said to be in the works for this summer, so an announcement detailing it more thoroughly may be coming our way in the near future. For now, we know that it will be an "event system that drives players to activities that feature modifiers, leaderboards, and unique vanity items that will only be available through these activities.".
The second expansion will be more "content focused" but no missions will be added. Creative Director at Massive Entertainment, Julian Gerighty said: "we’re not going to be doing the classic main mission type of thing, but narrative content is something that we are definitely looking at".
