Microsoft are giving up on one exclusive game from their store as State of Decay 2 recently got its Steam page up and running. There are some odd things happening with release date though.
State of Decay from Undead Labs was a quite refreshing experience during the zombie trend in the earlier part of 2010s and the sequel was hotly anticipated. However, the PC version was locked to Microsoft store and many fans were left wanting as they prefer to play it via Steam.
Those wishes are going to come true soon as Undead Labs set up a Steam store page for State of Decay 2 recently. Undead Labs' open-world survival game is adhering to the current generation's standard system requirements so you will not need to purchase a NASA computer to run it. However, if you happen to be lingering on Windows 7, you will need to move up to Windows 10 in order to play the game.
State of Decay 2 did not have a purchase button on Steam at the time of writing and more importantly, it didn't have an ETA. There is only what we assume is a placeholder date of 1 April 2022 but needing more than two years to move a game from one store to another would be a proper April fools joke, and not an out of season one.
It's highly possible Undead Labs are trying to avoid the release window where Cyberpunk 2077 is coming so it's possible SoD 2 will release before April 2020.
As for the price tag, the game was $39.99 / €39.99 / £34.99 at release so tipping the price point over that is not something you should bet on. In case Microsoft and Valve cook up a surprise and State of Decay 2 comes out on Steam while 2019 still lasts, it would be worth keeping an eye on the upcoming Winter sale, starting on 19 December 2019.
