People for Ethical Treatment of Zombies have recently complained to Microsoft about the...just kidding, there's no such thing as PETZ, but State of Decay 2 did see its playerbase hit two million players in less than two weeks from launch.

State of Decay 2 launched on 22 May 2018 and it took the game two days to rack up a million players across Win 10 and Xbox One platforms. At the time, Undead Labs and Microsoft said players have killed upwards of .

Things are definitely not looking up for the disenfranchised zombies, with the new stats reporting almost 2 billion zombie deaths to the scourge that are State of Decay 2 players. Unfortunately, zombies don't seem to have a spokesperson at the moment, so it's unclear where to reach out.

In the past week, an average State of Decay 2 player survived for three days, which is pretty much the same ratio as before. While it'd be incredibly funny to suggest Undead Labs' fans just need to git gud, it would also be factually incorrect. Yeah, larger playerbase means forget comparisons. Darn math.

Microsoft revealed that players have completed over 121,000 community stories and many of them are far from done with the game.  Namely, many players have started brand new communities, "with a new map that includes extra bonuses to help kickstart" their new State of Decay 2 start.

Built on the success of the original State of Decay from 2013, the sequel hasn't quite been the critical hit Undead Labs and Microsoft had surely hoped for. One could argue that it is near impossible to milk the genre now that the world and dog are fed up with Walking Dead and the recurring zombie theme.

That's not to say that the game is not doing good, because nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact from a commercial standpoint, State of Decay 2 is beating its predecessor silly having taken two days to hit one million players, something which took the original game four months to achieve.
