Stalker 2 has proven elusive over the years with setbacks pushing its release back several times. The latest one was Russia's aggression on Ukraine, where GSC Game World hails from, which could have spelt disaster for the eventual release but the devs found a way to make it work.
They eventually relocated to Czech Republic while some team members remained to defend Ukraine, which obviously had to translate into delays.
Initially, it wasn't known how long the latest delay would be but a hint popped up with the latest partnership announcement.
Silpo, a chain of grocery stores in Ukraine, appears to be partnered with GSC in some manner and the devs published a promotional image on Stalker 2 Twitter page on August 15, 2022.
Several fans expressed their support for the devs and the situation they found themselves in, mostly noting that it's more important to keep safe rather than to primarily think about the release.
One hopeful fan thought a December 2022 release date would still be an option but GSC dispelled this notion with a quick response.
"The game will be released in 2023. Thanks for this support, your question, and your interest in our game. We appreciate it so much." ~ GSC Game World via Twitter
The 2023 release is still on the table, and hopefully, when the game comes - may it be in a better world state than we have today.
