Rare's swashbuckling action-adventure Sea of Thieves has skyrocketed to the first spot on Steam's Top Sellers list for the week ending on June 27, 2021, thanks to the latest DLC A Pirate's Life.
Sea of Thieves is probably one of the prime examples of how to properly support a live service game with quality content, changes and improvements. Launched back in 2018, Sea of Thieves has been criticised for its lack of content but over the last couple of years, Rare have managed to turn the tide and today, the game is probably one of the biggest Xbox Game Studios titles in terms of player numbers and sales.
Recently, Sea of Thieves received a major free DLC called A Pirate's Life, which introduced characters and locations from the iconic film Pirates of Caribean. Of course, goofy Captain Jack Sparrow is included, it wouldn't be that interesting without him, that's for sure.
Anyway, this update, which is jam-packed with content and items to earn has helped Sea of Thieves reach No.1 on Steam's Top Sellers list for the week ending on June 27, 2021. Here's the top ten:
- Sea of Thieves
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice GOTY
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Forza Horizon 4 (Standard)
- Halo MCC
- Valve Index VR Kit
- PUBG
- Rust
- Forza Horizon 4 (Ultimate)
- It Takes Two
The game has also been receiving very positive reviews on Steam over the last couple of days so it's safe to say that players are certainly enjoying their time with Jack Sparrow and the crew.
On Steam, the game peaked at 62,889 which is just a fraction below the record peak of 66,632. Microsoft reported that Sea of Thieves has been played by more than 15 million players on all platforms since launch.
