Hi-Rez Studios and Paladins found themselves in everyone's crosshairs a few times for copying League of Legends and mostly Overwatch. It seems like Overwatch 2 will pull a reverse card and add multiple ways to play a hero.
Overwatch 2 is supposed to be announced at BlizzCon 2019, according to Metro, a person that correctly leaked Ashe in 2018 and more recently, that are about to happen at the convention. Therefore, it appears that the leaker is to be trusted but since there are no official confirmations yet, we would still suggest taking this info with a grain of salt.
Anyway, the second instalment in the hero shooter will apparently feature a levelling system that will allow players to play a hero in more ways than one. This has been one of the biggest complaints of any Overwatch players that also tried Paladins: Champions of the Realm.
Hi-Rez's game has a talent system that allows players to alter the way their champion works and now it seems like Blizzard are adopting it. Paladins is usually called out for copying Overwatch but if this turns out to be true, it will be one of the few instances where the opposite turned out to be correct.
One example of the hero altering system is an instance where Tracer's Pulse Bomb to people close to her target. Just being in the proximity of a tank can get a healer popped by their own copy of the Brit's ulti. However, Metro is whether this system will work only in PvE or in PvP as well.
Blizzard have a lot of goodwill to regain at BlizzCon and it remains to be seen if they will just keep digging the same hole or actually try to make the fans happy at the convention.
