According to the latest rumours, Rockstar could release a HD remaster of Grand Theft Auto III on the game's 20th anniversary, which is coming in October this year.

Rumours about Grand Theft Auto III Remaster have been circulating over on social media and gaming forums for several months but at the time of writing, Rockstar Games are yet to officially announce such a release. Some suggest that GTA III and GTA IV are the prime candidates for re-release with fancy new visuals but nothing has been said by reliable sources regarding this, so it's safe to say that we should be taking these rumours with a dose of scepticism.

Now that we have warned you to not get all excited, there's a new rumour that appeared on the controversial message board 4chan. It states that Rockstar Games want to celebrate Grand Theft Auto III's 20th anniversary later this year with a release of an HD version of the game.

The release date is apparently set for October 22, 2021, which is the day, GTA III originally launched 20 years ago. Additionally, the rumour also reveals a couple of details about the remaster.

This new version of GTA III runs on the same engine as GTA V, will feature new vehicles and weapons and it's coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S.
