According to the latest rumours, the next Call of Duty is a Black Ops reboot set during the Vietnam War. Apparently, the game will focus on real-life events with a brutal and gritty singleplayer campaign.
Call of Duty 2020 development has been pretty rocky according to some earlier reports. Apparently, the game was developed by Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games but Activision decided to put Treyarch in charge, despite their work on Black Ops 4 in 2018.
Earlier rumours suggested that the game is going back to the Cold War era with some missions set during the Vietnam War but the latest leaks suggest that Call of Duty 2020 will strongly focus on the latter setting.
According to a reliable Call of Duty leaker TheGamingRevolution , the next Call of Duty will be based on real-life events from the Vietnam War and will be even more realistic and brutal than 2019' Modern Warfare.
On top of this, the leaker claims that the game will probably be named Black Ops, marking a reboot for the series but other names like Black Ops V or Black Operations remain a small possibility.
As for the multiplayer, apparently the Ground War will return and Activision are pushing for big 32v32 player count modes. TheGamingRevolution also claims that most maps will be more open than Modern Warfare's cluttered maps. One of them is a snowy map with a large frozen lake right in the centre with thick forests, bunkers and a train.
One of the most controversial changes in the next Call of Duty could be the return of manual health regeneration just like in Black Ops 4. Modern Warfare returned to the classic auto health regeneration but it looks like Treyarch want to make the game feel more realistic with stim shots.
The leaker mentions that this could change during the development just like in Modern Warfare, which had two versions - one with auto health regeneration and one with stim shots.
Now, take all these rumours with a grain of salt just like any other unconfirmed info. Of course, a lot of this makes sense and TheGamingRevolution is a reliable leaker but until we get an official confirmation, you should not look into it too much.
