Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have a battle royale mode according to the latest rumours. Apparently, Activision plan to make it free to play and release sometime in 2020. Also, the mode will be downloadable as a separate game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare hype train is in full speed ever since the official reveal of the game's multiplayer mode. The developers Infinity Ward are talking non-stop about the game, revealing new details and teasing some yet unannounced features.
One of the features that has been a major talking point within the community is the battle royale mode, which is yet to be officially confirmed by the devs. Many players are wondering if the game will ever get one, especially after some earlier comments from the devs suggested that battle royale is not something they are thinking about at the moment.
However, according to the latest leak from Twitter user LongSensation, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will feature a battle royale mode, but not on launch. Apparently, it will arrive sometime in 2020 as a standalone free to play game but still connected to the core game.
"So apparently Battle Royale in ModernWarfare will be a free mode to release in early 2020. It will be downloadable as a separate game, but also will still be connected to the core game. If this is true then it's a very good move by Activision," LongSensation tweeted.
This rumour aligns with some earlier leaks which also suggested that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will indeed have a battle royale mode but not at launch.
Of course, just like any other leak, rumour and unconfirmed info, take this one with a huge grain of salt. That being said, LongSensation accurately leaked Call of Duty news in the past, so it's possible that this one is also legit.
Another comment that could give this rumour even more credibility comes from Infinity Ward's Art Director Joel Emslie, who said that players will simply have to wait and see if Modern Warfare will have a battle royale mode.
