Could the Ruined King become the new League of Legends champion?

Riot's recent cinematic for Ruined King: A League of Legends Story revealed a couple of hints that may lead to the fan-favourite Ruined King to become the new League of Legends champion.

The release of a new champion is probably one of the most exciting events in the League of Legends world. Riot's most recent cinematic may have hinted that the new champion is in fact the infamous Ruined King.

First of all, let's go back to the Champion Roadmap Riot revealed a month ago, the short poem-like text in the part in which they announce the new champion already hints at the Ruined King's lore. The first sentence " What would you do for love?" is probably about the King's love for his Queen who was poisoned to death. According to the lore, he then visits the Blessed Isles, which later turn into the Shadow Isles, in order to use the place's powers to resurrect his beloved queen.

After his attempt turned out disastrous, he gave up his life to join his queen in the afterlife. The two following lines, "Would you give up everything you have?" and "Would you go to the brink of life and death?", are probably talking about that exact sacrifice.

Now let's jump to the most recent cinematic where the Ruined King's first appearance may have already confirmed that he's joining the champions roster. In the picture below you can see that the symbol on his sword perfectly matches the symbol on the ring-like item which was featured in the roadmap.

In the same article, they've stated that they are bringing some new lore champions to the Rift, and with Yone finally becoming champion after years of speculations, it shouldn't come as a surprise if the item Blade of the Ruined King welcomes its rightful owner.
