We've all come across enemy Reynas whose name is "I miss her" and we just knew that that game was not gonna be fun. Most of the time those Reynas are Radiant smurfs boosting their Bronze friends and Riot has finally done something about it.
Riot has taken to Twitter to announce that they have tackled Valorant ’s smurfing issue. While it was announced a few weeks ago that they are working on it, the community now finally knows what is being done to fix it.
Those who have played the game in the past few days have probably noticed a new addition to the news section that mentions all of the information that Riot has about smurfing, who tends to smurf and why they smurf.
Additionally, they also brought some statistics to show how many players actually smurf and how that number has changed now. They implemented a system earlier this year, called Automated Smurf Detection that quickly adjusted the MMR of those who were trying to smurf and according to Riot, it was successful.
5-stack restrictions were implemented and that also yielded success as the overall smurf count was reduced by 17% and now MMR for smurfing is adjusted up to 3 times faster than the MMR of a player who plays in their rank.
It is nice to see action being taken to tackle this issue as Valorant is currently one of the more competitive games on the market and the fact that it is free means that its doors are open to everyone, which might not give everyone an enjoyable experience.
