Leon and Claire seem to have had a better outing than Jill since Resident Evil 3 failed to sell as many copies in the launch period.

Resident Evil 3 has had a successful run so far but Resident Evil 2 proved to be the more popular remake. According to SuperData's latest report , the former sold 1.3 million digital units in April 2020 while RE2 sold 1.4 million in January 2019. They partially attributed the lower sales to lower review scores but noted that the sales benefitted from the predecessor's newfound popularity.

The rest of the April report contains several success stories. CoD: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is one of them, despite the publishers today pushing the narrative that singleplayer games are dead. CoD: MW2 remaster sold 622,000 copies in April 2020 and projections are that the game will continue to perform well in May when it releases on Xbox One and PC.

Final Fantasy VII Remake sold like hotcakes, which pretty much no one doubted it would. A total of 2.2 million units were sold, breaking records for the franchise and PlayStation exclusives in the process. The digital to physical copy ratio leaned in favour of the former one, possibly as a result of Covid-19 consequences, resulting in the game getting a slight edge over Spider-Man's digital sales.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons still trumped everyone else with 3.6 million copies sold during the month. Nintendo folks are probably celebrating in a recurring manner now as the game keeps taking the top spot in charts.

The game's sales are 27 per down compared to previous month but it has managed to become Switch's #1 regarding digital lifetime sales and digital revenue, just two months into existence.
