Niantic have kicked off yet another event in Pokemon GO. This time it's the Lunar New Year and five "dog type" Pokemon bring extra Stardust when caught. The latest shiny is Poochyena.
Niantic have been dropping events all over Pokemon GO lately, and they're not keen on stopping any time soon. In the last week alone we had:
- The arrival of Gen 3’s final wave
- New Legendary
- Gen 3 wild catch event
- Luvdisc event
- Team Rocket introduced.
And now the Lunar New Year event is live in-game. The latest event will only last for two days, starting on 15 February 2018.
The Lunar New Year event will have you running (safely) around, catching Poochyena, Growlithe, Snubbull, Eevee, or Electrike for bonus Stardust. Since the event is celebrating Year of the Dog, all Pokemon that grant you bonus Stardust can be classified as "dog type".
If the Valentine's Day event is anything to go by, you'll be seeing the featured Pokemon a bunch. Also, the Valentine's event has been extended by a day so these are overlapping.
Valentine's Day event brought a shiny Luvdisc into the mix. Lunar New Year's shiny ended up being Poochyena. I think we're all a tad disappointed as we were low key expecting a shiny Eevee, who has five different shiny forms it can evolve into.
Niantic have been going at it hard with these events and new outfit options lately, so one can't but wonder when will all this stop. I personally hope it doesn't, as the weather doesn't lend itself nicely to Pokemon hunting at the moment.
