Niantic announced two new Gen 3 Legendary Pokemon will be available in Pokemon GO for a limited time. The Legendaries will be accompanied by other monsters from the Hoenn region. New special boxes available at the in-game store for a limited time.

Niantic recently unleashed a bunch of new Pokemon originally discovered in the Hoenn region into the world of Pokemon GO. A new announcement on the game's site says that even more Pokemon will start appearing in Pokemon GO on 09 February 2018. The biggest news: the Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza will become available in Raid Battles for a limited time.

As a result, Pokemon originally discovered in the Hoenn region will take over wild encounters and continue to do so until 13 February 2018. During this time, you'll be given an opportunity to get your hands on Salamence, Altaria, Metagross, and more.

Rayquaza will be making the rounds in Raid Battles until 16 March 2018, but it's not the only Legendary that's coming to a gym near you. Water-type Pokemon Kyogre will be a Raid Boss in Pokemon GO until 14 February 2018.

In addition to the new monsters, "you might see some different Pokemon in Raid Battles at your nearby Gym, and from hatched Eggs" says the announcement. In-game store will also get some special boxes that contain Raid Passes, Incubators, and Star Pieces. The new boxes will be available until 23 February 2018. Lure Modules will stay activated  for six hours until that same date.

The quests that were recently discovered by dataminers have not made an appearance yet, but I'm sure they are on their way. Pokemon with multiple forms: Deoxys and Castform both have their new Pokedex display buttons. Dataminers also found that a new attribute that stores the Trainer's latitude and longitude has also been added, but we still have no idea what it's for.

The recent EX Raid invites mistake has since been identified as a bug.
